Vitamin
B6
Vitamin B6 Pyridoxine HCI helps the body use protein to rebuild
tissue, boosts the metabolism of fats, and helps produce red blood
cells. Vitamin B6 and Vitamin M -Folic Acid when combined are known
to help lower plaque (hardened cholesterol) levels and is an immune
system aid. B6 deficiencies include symptoms such as anemia, or
worse, seizures, and because vitamin B6 is involved with tryptophan
production in the brain, insomnia, and irritability. If you're on
a high protein diet, your body may require more Vitamin B6. Never
take more than 150mg (milligrams) a day without the supervision
of your doctor.
Other
therapeutic uses are for helping in the reduction or elimination
of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, this could take 3 months or so to relieve
this symptom. Mild depression is benefited greatly due to Vitamin
B6 helping in the production of serotonin, a mood elevating brain
chemical. Premenstrual Syndrome can be reduced as well. A double
blind study performed found that taking B6 has helped 20 of 25 women's
symptoms of PMS, including the relief of bloating, irritability,
breast tenderness and headaches. Kidney stones have also been reduced
greatly by taking B6. Also, the B6 vitamin has been shown to improve
blood sugar (glucose) control in some diabetes patients; it may
also help prevent some of the nerve damage caused by this disease.
Tuberculosis (TB) patients are often treated with isoniazid, an
antibiotic that can cause nerve inflammation and pain; taking Vitamin
B6 daily reduces this pain.
