Vitamin B1

Thiamine is sometimes called the energy vitamin because it is needed to metabolize carbohydrates, fats, and proteins and helps convert glucose into stored fat. Vitamin B1 also ensures proper nerve-impulse transmission and contributes to maintaining normal appetite, muscle tone, and mental health. In the 1930's Thiamine was discovered to be the cure for the crippling and potentially fatal disease Beriberi.

Mild deficiencies may cause fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, moodiness, confusion, anemia, and possibly heart arrhythmias. Athletes, laborers, pregnant women and anyone who is active due to work, exercise, or lifestyle definitely require Thiamine.
